Adult film is a business organised around the scene rather than the film. A scene is a unit of twenty to forty minutes with a small cast, one location and a premise that exists to get two people into a room. It is sold on its own, bundled with others, or streamed, and the performer's name is the thread that lets a viewer find the next one. That is why the billing matters more than it looks. A film has a title to remember; a scene has a face, a name and a search field. Everything else, the labels, the box covers, the category tags, is a way of attaching the two. The name is the part that has to survive.
